I was your regular teacher on the block who thought of a career shift. I have always wanted to write ever since I can remember. So I left teaching and began hunting for a writing job. However, I never thought that writing is a job which pays. I have always thought of writing as a calling.
I was introduced to content writing in the interactive media. This became my first writing job aside from freelance writing of fiction and poetry which paid $25 per publication.
Content writing turned to SEO writing. And it felt like being turned loose in an enchanted world where both good and cruel creatures reign and menace. Fortunately though, the very first account I handled introduced me to a good internet business coach as my employer.
He made me setup several new accounts at social bookmarking sites and instructed me to bookmark socially his sites. He made me submit to blog directories and business directories. He taught me how to comment on blogs. Then, he instructed me to write articles. All these he records through a video tutorial using free software to make it easier for me.
At a cursory level, I was not really into the whole search engine optimization package. I followed instructions, I did my work and I went home. But as I went deeper into his tutelage, I began to understand the game of SEO. As I read blogs and commented on them, I became familiar with the terms the virtual people employ.
Then, it hit me! Every writer probably dreams of having a bestseller. And in the interactive media, a writer’s bestseller is to break through the search engines and rank high. More people will have the chance to visit your site. Your site will have wider audience to capture, entertain, inform, educate. You can even profit from it all.
I took the advantage of having a good internet business coach showing me the way. I retraced every step he made me do. After work, I would go online at home and set up my own site where I write anything I want to write. I followed every procedure I did for him like social bookmarking, submission to directories, blog-commenting and article writing. But this time, I used my own site.
As a virtual assistant pulled into search engine optimization, I looked forward to seeing my employer achieve his goals. I have no doubt, being good in his craft, he will have his very own bestseller. As a writer, I await each day for a new technique to create my own bestseller as well.
